Well yesterday was a proud day for me. My business, Ace Handyman Services, was voted the best handyman in Santa Barbara!

Thank you to all of you who voted for me!  It is a good feeling knowing people believe in me enough to vote for Ace Handyman Services.

I have been doing the handyman business in Goleta, Summerland, Carpinteria, Montecito and Santa Barbara since October of 1999. So it is really cool to be voted the best in Santa Barbara on my eleventh anniversary of going out on my own.

I’m Helping to End Aids

From June 5th to 11th, 2011, I will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle 10 as a roadie. This will be my 8th year participating in this extremely significant and important event. It’s a 7-day, 545-mile bicycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS, by raising much needed funds and awareness.

As a roadie, I do not need to raise any money to participate. Yet I feel it is important to not only deliver myself as a helping hand, but to deliver support from my friends in the form of a dollar here and dollar there.

Why I do this.

For many years, till I was 33, I struggled with who I was. Yet whenever I drank or used mind altering substances, It became easier to be who I was. A Gay Man.

Society for a long time has frowned on people like me, and therefore hiding who I was seemed necessary. Well let me tell you, when I found a gay Alcoholics Anonymous meeting I knew I had found a home. AA gave me my life back. When I got sober I opened the closet and came out too.

During that meeting, I found a friend there who taught me how to be a Sober Gay Man in today’s world. Not an easy task I might add. This friend, who shall remain anonymous is no longer with us, this horrible disease took him from this earth. But for the rest of my life I will be grateful to this wonderful Human Being

My friends Kevin and Sean Ayers wrote this rally, and we have left our fearless leader Joe Akerman out of the loop so he could actually  run the rally. So I kinda stepped in to help Kevin and Sean write, check out and organize the rally.

This will be a great rally, some really great roads to test your navigators ability to hold the cookies down with spirited driving, and a few places with straight lines and no other cars to help blow the carbon out. Mind you though, none of this is necessary to compete or complete the rally. If you follow the preferred route all times will keep you well within the speed limits.

One unique part of this rally is there are over 5 different railroad crossings. You could find yourself stuck behind a train! A long train going very slow. So for the first time, we have introduced an available time delay some what like TSD rallies.

It should be a good time and I look forward to seeing the faces of happy drivers and navigators at the end of the rally.

Start is today October 23rd at the Marie Calender’s restaurant off of I5 near the entrance to Six Flags Magic mountain. Registration opens at 10, A school for beginners at 11 and 1st car out 1:01. If you have never run one before, there is no cost to enter. Just bring yourself, a buddy for a navigator, an accurate watch and a willingness to have fun driving like you have never experienced before. I enjoy it because I forget the rest of the world for a few hours and just concentrate on the rally.

Mark your calendars, Into the Night Road Rally Team is proud to present “Two Lane Blacktop”, a map based Monte Carlo Style Rally in Southern California Area. The start, location not yet disclosed, will be in the Santa Clarita Area on September 12th, 2009.  And the finish near Acton.

This event promises to provide a lot of fun for the automotive enthusiasts.

It is a lot of fun, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys their car and
back roads. All the roads are paved, and the event will run rain or shine.

I guarantee you  will have more fun and better memories with the same amount of cash, or less, than you would going to the movies.

Oh, and the competition is stiff too. I am running this one and not working.
